The Power Of The Force

10. Example exersizes

Lay on your back on the floor, and place a large book on your stomach. As you exhale, the book should rise. Notice that was EXHALE! That is diaphragm breathing. Once you get good at it, try having a friend put their hands on your back above the hip bone, on the 'kidneys'. Good diaphragm breathing will cause this area to expand as you exhale. Another good tip: if your shoulders rise, you are breathing wrong, not to mention tightening up your sword arm(s). If your chest rises, you are breathing wrong, not to mention expanding your target! Practice correct breathing as you practice your saber techniques.Breath out as you finish a move, forward or back, attack or defence.Never hold your breath! Breath sustains life. Life creates the Force. Therefore, breath can help create an awareness of the Force.

Your constant struggle against the dark side may be likened to water, for just as flowing water avoids the heights and hastens to the lowlands, so you as a Jedi should avoid the strengths of the dark side and strike at it's weakness. (It helps to think of it this way.) And as water reshapes itself in accordance to the ground it flows over, so should you approach each situation. For the Jedi there can be no constant form. Neither the day or night is predominant, and the seasons are all equal yet never the same. So must a Jedi be. Structure in one's life is not unimportant. But the Force is a constantly changing, flowing entity and willingness to adjust to the needs of the world as they occur cannot be emphasized enough on the road to Jedi Master.
